We are outraged to our core that recent events have shone yet another light on how bright the fires of inequality still burn in this country. The stench of racism is strong, but as millions of people all over the world are demonstrating, the will to overcome it is stronger.
Many in our DF family have or may in the future, find themselves unwilling observers of this cruel reality. We are here for you. Talk to us. Share concerns. Share ideas for change in our community and in our own DF family. We stand with you and above all, we have your back. As Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but he must take it because his conscience tells him it is right.”
That time for us is now. We will not be silent and to our DF family, please know we will be reaching out to local and state community leaders to determine how we can participate with others to collectively, responsibly and peacefully affect real change.
We are blessed beyond measure to enjoy this DF family of ours. Your courage, competence and compassion handling the ongoing pandemic has not been at all surprising, but it has been deeply humbling. There is no greater team on earth. We’ve learned so much about ourselves, our ability to rise above and successfully navigate any obstacle thrown our way, and we’ve come out stronger as a result. YOU are true heroes.
At this crucial time in our nation’s history, the same will hold true. Together, we will join hands and navigate our way forward. We will let our conscience guide us and we will come out of this a more perfect union. As Martin Luther King, Jr. also said, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.”
