Drucker & Falk Represents Atlantic 10 Athletic Conference - 10.26.09

Newport News, VA - October 2009

After fourteen years in Philadelphia, the Atlantic 10 Conference made the decision to relocate its headquarters to Newport News, Virginia. This 14 university, 21 sport athletic conference is one of the best in the nation and its geographic footprint extends from Massachusetts to North Carolina and as far west as Missouri. The conference visited numerous cities for nearly a year before selecting Newport News for their new headquarters.

Brian Mello of Drucker & Falk was retained as the exclusive agent for the Atlantic 10's site selection in Newport News. After looking at numerous sites within the city, a 10 year lease was signed in August, 2009. According to Mello, "The A-10 had specific requirements to make the move to Newport News possible. We were able to negotiate a competitive package that made City Center the ideal location."

The new A-10 headquarters will be located in the City Center at Oyster Point; a vibrant mixed use development that combines Class A office space with a wide variety of restaurants, retail stores, apartments, condominiums, and a hotel. This 700-acre development is the premier location for business, entertainment and recreation in the growing city of Newport News.

The Atlantic 10 will begin moving into their new state-of-the-art facility by early November. As moving day draws near, there is excitement throughout the conference. In a recent A-10 press release, Jack Kvancz, Director of Athletics at George Washington University and Chair of the Atlantic 10 Athletic Directors, expressed his enthusiasm. "For the A-10 to move within the footprint of the conference into a state-of-the-art building in the Hampton Roads region is a great opportunity and an exciting time for the league," he said.
